About LessonBench

Last updated: 21 Oct 2026

LessonBench runs hands-on, dated tests of AI video tools for people who teach online: course creators, coaches and educators who want to turn lessons, webinars and Zoom classes into clips, captions, edited videos and avatar videos. Every result says when we tested, which plan we used and what we could and could not do on it.

Why we do what we do

LessonBench started with a frustration. When our founder thought AI must be able to give him an edge, he found his search turned up mostly noise: hype, sponsored “best of” lists and reviews that contradicted each other. It was hard to tell what a tool actually did, what the free plan really included, or whether the reviewer had used it at all. Getting a straight answer took far longer than it should have.

So we built the site we wanted to find. We test each tool ourselves on its free plan, using our own sample lesson, and we put a date on every result. When we haven’t tested something, we label it “Not yet tested” instead of guessing. And we tell you up front that some links earn us a commission, so you can weigh what we say. Course creators have enough to do already. Our job is to give them straight, tested answers.

How we test

We test on free plans, or free trials that don’t need a card, so our results show what you get before you pay. Every tool gets the same inputs: a 3:46 sample lesson that LessonBench wrote and owns, and a 45-minute public-domain lecture for clip makers. We record processing time, clip quality, caption and transcript accuracy, watermarks, export limits and the price shown on the test date, and we keep dated screenshots. The full method is on How we test.

Tested hands-on on 21 Oct 2026:

Not tested: Riverside. Its pricing page showed no free plan and its trial asked for a card, so we describe it from vendor documentation and label it “Not yet tested”. We never present an untested tool as tested.

Independence and affiliate links

LessonBench earns a commission on some links (the ones under /go/) when you sign up or buy. It costs you nothing extra. Commissions never change our verdicts or rankings: we publish the same results whether or not a tool pays us, and tools without an affiliate program stay in our guides when they fit. No company pays for placement or reviews our pages before they go live.

Corrections

Vendor plans and prices change often. If you spot something wrong or out of date, email us and we will check it, fix it and update the date on the page. When a change affects a verdict, we say so on the page. We plan to retest major tools about every quarter.

Contact

Email hello@lessonbench.com for corrections, questions or partnership enquiries. Partnerships never buy a better verdict.

Affiliate disclosure: LessonBench may earn a commission when you buy through some links on this site, at no extra cost to you. This never changes our picks. Commissions never decide rankings; tools without affiliate programs stay if they fit. We don’t publish fake reviews or invented results.
